YWCA Dayton Holds Standard Register Scholarship Ceremony for Girls Inc. Program

August 5, 2008 (FPRC) -- The YWCA Dayton Girls Inc. Standard Register Scholarship Ceremony was held at the YWCA Dayton Auditorium on Friday, August 1st. The Ceremony recognized scholarship recipient Angelika Carey, a student at Stivers High School, as well as the other 24 girls who participated in the summer camp program. Ms. Carey completed at least 1000 program and volunteer community service hours during her participation in the Girls Inc. program while remaining active in school. "I will always be thankful for the time I spent in the Girls Inc. program," said Ms. Carey, "I have made many new friends and have learned so much." Ms. Carey will begin to further her education in the fall by attending classes at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.
Girls Inc. in a national youth organization dedicated to "inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold." Girls Inc. education modules are presented during summer camp, or at schools, churches and community centers during the school year. Modules explore pregnancy prevention, media literacy, science and math, health and hygiene, substance abuse, dating violence and healthy relationships.
