September 5, 2008 (FPRC) -- Europe’s leading IT skills training college, SkillsTrain is supporting students at the University of Bedfordshire by sponsoring individual university places and by providing computing equipment worth in excess of £60,000.
The firm, whose head offices are in Collingdon Street, Luton, are among private sector companies who responded to the University’s appeal for financial aid, through scholarships, bursaries and donations.
SkillsTrain’s Jan Telensky said 'The future of our country lies in our ability to train students in skills and education which they’ll then be building on for life. Skills are the most important asset we can give our young people. SkillsTrain is training over 100,000 students of all ages at any one time in IT, book-keeping and office skills and we recognise the essential work that the University of Bedfordshire does in training graduates'.
Development Director Alisdaire Lockhart said: 'The Development Office has been working to help students at the university and we are really pleased to have secured many big names, including SkillsTrain, willing to donate such generous support.
The University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon added: 'We have already seen the remarkable difference such support has made to students and we will strive to help many more.'
