September 11, 2008 (FPRC) -- HOUSTON, TX -- Texas 18 wheeler accident lawyer Jim S. Adler of Jim S. Adler & Associates announces a new website packed with information on truck accidents, trucking regulations, road safety and legal options for victims of semi truck crashes.

The website, http://www.18wheeleraccident.org., includes tips on how drivers can learn to drive defensively when sharing the road with semi trucks and provides legal help for accident victims.

"Semi truck crashes are different than automobile accidents. What might be a simple fender bender between two cars changes completely when a semi truck is involved, and the results can be life threatening and catastrophic. Instead of walking away unharmed, a semi truck accident victim may incur severe injuries and years of medical bills," said Adler, founder of Jim S. Adler & Associates (http://www.18wheeleraccident.org/index.php).

Adler said the trucking industry has many guidelines and laws that are unique to it, and trucking companies have teams of lawyers well-versed in them.

"Without their own experienced lawyer, accident victims are at the mercy of the trucking companies. Hiring an experienced attorney that understands 18 wheeler accidents is critical to ensure those companies don't take advantage of victims," said Adler, a truck accident lawyer in Texas for more than three decades.

Nearly 30% of trucking accidents can be attributed to driver fatigue. Speeding, inexperience or alcohol and drug use by the truck driver also are factors in many 18 wheeler accidents. Other accidents are due to loads that are too heavy or a lack of preventative maintenance by the driver or trucking company.

"Every year more than 5,000 people are killed in semi truck crashes, and another 130,000 people are injured. Our goal is to help those people get the accident assistance they deserve," Adler said.

About 18 Wheeler Accident.org: 18 Wheeler Accident.org (http://www.18wheeleraccident.org) is an informational website sponsored by Texas attorney Jim S. Adler that offers safety tips for drivers who must share the road with 18 wheeler trucks. Jim S. Adler & Associates focuses on helping victims of semi truck crashes.
