October 27, 2008 (FPRC) -- SPRINGFIELD, MO - Trail Cam Pro, a leading online retailer of scouting cameras used by hunters and wildlife enthusiasts, has announced the results of its 2008 Trail Camera Shootout. The highly anticipated annual “Shootout” tests the abilities and performance of numerous models of popular field cameras.
Trail Cam Pro experts lined up 11 different models of trail cameras and tested them on three different criteria: detection width, detection range, and trigger speed. The testers mounted the cameras on a stationary board and walked by them at 10' intervals, starting at 10' and ending at 80.’ The cameras were graded on how quickly they were able to capture the subject and the quality of the photo.
"For the second year in a row, the Reconyx RM45 was the clear winner. Out of a total 64 points, the Reconyx was awarded a score of 53. The camera scored a perfect score at the 10' and 20' range and its lowest score was a five out of eight at the 80' range. The fast trigger time coupled with the enormous detection zone makes the Reconyx RM45 our winner,” said Rich Howell, president of Trail Cam Pro (http://www.trailcampro.com).
Trail Cam Pro has been performing these extremely thorough trail camera reviews since 2006. In addition to the Shootout, the company also performs a Flash Range Test, which tests the trail cameras' ability to capture images at night. The company provides the data to its customers and test results, along with the test images, can be found on Trail Cam Pro's website at http://www.trailcampro.com/2008trailcamerashootout.aspx
"Our goal with the 2008 Trail Camera Shootout is to save our customers valuable time and money. By doing our own independent research on the different models, we're able to offer our customers the information they need to make an informed decision about which camera they should buy. It also allows us to determine if there are models that don't meet our strict quality standards and we've actually removed inventory from our store based on our results. We know that our customers' needs vary and not everyone needs the top of the line models, which is why we offer a wide range of field cameras in all different price points," said Howell.
