Steel Manufacturer Recognized for Innovative Customer Service and Employee Productivity Improvements

November 19, 2008 (FPRC) -- Gallatin Steel, in conjunction with Results Engineering, was honored with a RealSolutions Award for Best Manufacturing Solution for its innovative implementation of the OnBase enterprise management system. The award was presented by Hyland Software at the 2008 OnBase Training and Technology Conference in Las Vegas, NV.

Gallatin Steel, which produces high quality hot-rolled steel, and Results Engineering, a leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and workflow automation for government, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, and higher education; worked together to integrate a content management strategy for its associates, improving customer service and worker productivity and efficiency.

The RealSolutions Awards recognizes organizations using Enterprise Content Management solutions in a unique and successful manner. Specifically, the Best Manufacturing Solution award highlights a company who demonstrates the power of OnBase—an enterprise content management software that combines integrated document management, business process management and records management in a single application for the manufacturing industry.

Results Engineering assisted Gallatin Steel in installing an enterprise-wide OnBase solution as an extension of existing business systems. Onbase has been integrated with the custom-developed Order-to-Cash system, which manages order entry, product metallurgy, scheduling, shipping, product claims, and many other functions across the company. This integrated system has converted several manual documents to digital records with E-Forms; and has enabled the rest of the documents to be scanned into records that are easily routed and filed with Onbase workflow. Customer facing documents, such as Bill of Ladings, Metallurgical Certifications, and Invoices are all stored in Onbase and are easily available for immediate access by our inside sales associates. Benefits range from costs savings, cost avoidance, improved information flow and control, improved customer service, mitigated liability risk, improved quality and compliance.
