AdvantaPure(R) Expands Its Silicone Molding Operations to Meet Increased Product Demand; Capabilities Include Single-Use Manifolds & Process Systems
High purity tubing and manifold manufacturer AdvantaPure recently tripled the size of its molded silicone production area. The expansion houses equipment for the manufacture of single-use process systems, tubing sets, and manifolds for pharmaceutical and clean applications. Finished products consist of tubing; reinforced hose; fittings in T, Y, cross, and reducer styles; and other custom-specified components.

December 17, 2008 (FPRC) -- High purity tubing and hose manufacturer AdvantaPure recently tripled the size of its clean room facility to allow for the increased production of molded silicone components. Manifolds and other process components for the pharmaceutical and clean application industries are produced in a newly created area. The original clean room is now used primarily for the manufacture of silicone stoppers and sealing systems for containers of glass, metal, or plastic.
“The number of orders coming in for molded products was quickly rising,” notes Michael Needling, AdvantaPure’s Director of Manufacturing Operations. “Seeing this, we planned and built the new space before we reached capacity in the existing room. We now have several team members producing manifolds and stoppers full time. And the new area has room for additional expansion.”
The new space houses several liquid injection molding (LIM) stations used in the production of silicone manifolds, along with work tables, storage areas, and an R&D section. A separate clean room, which was also part of the facility expansion, is used for manufacturing and packaging hose assemblies and for pressure testing. Access is restricted to essential team members in both HEPA-filtered rooms to maintain product purity. The company’s plant engineer and maintenance personnel handled construction.
AdvantaPure uses its expanded space to manufacture custom single-use silicone manifolds consisting of tubing; fittings in T, Y, cross, and reducer styles; and other specified components. Sealing systems and stoppers, with or without ports for tubing inserts or vents, are produced for flexible container systems, carboys, laboratory apparatus and bottles, and sampling and storage receptacles.
