January 27, 2009 (FPRC) -- LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Nadel Architects has appointed Greg Lyon as design principal and will be responsible for overseeing and collaborating with Nadel’s managing principals in all six office locations: Los Angeles, Calif.; San Diego, Calif.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Orange County, Calif.; Sacramento, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz. He will be based out of the company’s Los Angeles office. Lyon most recently served as the design principal leading KTGY Group’s Retail/Mixed-Use Studio in Santa Monica, Calif. Prior to joining KTGY, Lyon was the chief design principal for MCG, overseeing MCG’s nine branch offices.
Lyon brings an impressive list of project experience recognized throughout the country. He has led the design of various noteworthy projects from retail and mixed-use to resort and entertainment destinations including Pacific City in Huntington Beach, El Portal in Southgate, and the Whole Foods Market in Pasadena, California (recipient of the 2008 Gold Nugget Award for Best Adaptive Re-use Project). In addition, Lyon has had the opportunity to work with some of the most prestigious entertainment and recreational brands in the industry, most notably Universal Studios, where he designed retail and entertainment components for Universal projects in international markets.
"For me, Nadel is the industry leader in the retail sector, with a tremendous legacy and impressive list of completed retail projects, coupled with the diversity of Nadel’s other market sectors including expertise in mixed-use, hospitality, residential and office; both domestically and internationally," said Lyon. "The opportunity to become part of the Nadel’s outstanding leadership and design team is really the culmination of my professional efforts over the last decade. I am thrilled to be working with the very best."
"For several years now we have been looking for a highly experienced and sophisticated design principal to bolster our efforts," said Jerry Kramer, executive vice president of Nadel Architects. "We are so excited to have Greg on board and welcome him as one of our managing principals. His perspective will be a tremendous asset to all of our retail, mixed-use and urban projects. We are now well positioned to be the go-to-firm in retail and mixed-use development."
"We have enjoyed a strong working relationship with Nadel Architects over the years," said Erwin Bucy, senior vice president, investments with Regency Centers of Los Angeles. "With the addition of Greg Lyon, we look forward to working on new, exciting, high quality projects together in the years to come."
"Greg has an innate ability to conceptualize projects that are attractive, introspective, and yet realistic," said Leandro Tyberg, partner, director of construction with Primestor Development, Inc. of Beverly Hills, Calif. "His ability to marry design with function has made him a respected leader in our industry. His passion for bringing innovative mixed-use projects to fruition is both admirable and ambitious."
Lyon holds a Masters Degree from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Graduate School of Architecture and a Bachelors of Arts in Art History from UCLA as well. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and currently is a resident of Los Angeles, Calif.
