March 1, 2009 (FPRC) -- Some people say there is no place like home… What if you no longer feel at home in your home; the sun no longer shines, the rain no longer falls as it used to; you are persecuted - you are judged not by your qualification and competence but by the ethnic group you come from, the people you know, the language you speak, or the political party you support? What if the situation becomes unbearable and you manage to escape to some other place you thought was safe? What if this new place turns out not to be a refuge? Where then are you at home?
Tanifon Silvanus (Santos) was the first Anglophone Cameroon student to have an ‘A’ grade in philosophy. He went on to study law at the University of Buea, then creative writing in England. No Longer at Home is his very first attempt at writing. And since its publication he has been working on “The New President.”
