Veteran PGA Professionals Integrate Golf Instruction and Fitness at Austin, Texas Teaching Center

March 2, 2009 (FPRC) -- Falconhead Golf Club, one of Austin’s premier PGA-designed courses, today announces that the Elite Golf Performance Teaching Center (PTC) headed by veteran PGA instruction professionals Chris de Keratry and Matt Christian will be hosted at its facilities. The Elite Golf PTC combines the most precise teaching instruction with golf fitness training to deliver Central Texas’ most comprehensive golf learning center.
The Elite Golf PTC offers a unique golf instruction experience combining two disciplines critical to golf success: swing plane/ball flight instruction; and biomechanics or how the body is designed to move and transfer energy. These teaching principles are based around how the body should move the club versus how the club should move the body. As a result, the instructors at the Elite Golf PTC train the transition and timing of the body and the golf swing to fit the individual, not a single swing philosophy.
“It does not matter if you are tall, short, fat, skinny or something in between, our methodology will improve your golf game,” said Matt Christian, Director of Golf Fitness/Biomechanics at the Elite Golf Performance Teaching Center. “Today’s top PGA golfers have demonstrated the impact of fitness on a person’s golf game. But for amateurs missing is a combination of fitness training with golf lessons. You can have the strongest abdominals in the world but if you are not engaging them in your golf swing, it will never matter. Our teaching center is the only golf instruction site in Austin, Texas that combines the two to do just that.
“We want our students to become their own best teacher,” said Chris de Keratry, Director of Instruction at the Elite Golf PTC and recent nominee of the 2008 Southern Texas PGA Teacher of the Year award. “It all starts with a proper address position. Then we work on a student’s swing plane. Once a student is swinging on the correct plane, they will hit their straightest, most consistent golf shots. And even when they do miss, based on ball flight, they’ll understand how to self-correct.”
Chris de Keratry brings over 20 years of experience as a PGA Professional and his reputation as one of the area’s most respected golf instructors to the Elite Golf PTC. He is also Director of Instruction at Teravista Golf Club in Round Rock. Matt Christian is the area’s leading authority in golf fitness and biomechanics and is the Southwestern U.S. expert in the use of the 3-D Motion Analysis machine ZenoLink. Both are instructors for multiple PGA, College, junior and amateur champions. Chris studies under some of the most well-known golf teachers in the world including Hank Haney, Tim Cusick and Marius Filmalter, the current short game instructor for the #1 ranked golfer in the world. Matt studies under world renown biomechanics expert Chris Welch.
