March 2, 2009 (FPRC) -- IRVINE, CALIF. - Whittlesey Doyle, a full-service land brokerage and advisory firm and market leader in the sale of land in Southern California, announced today that industry veteran Steve Relth has joined the company as a senior broker to focus on the marketing of residential land and development opportunities for sale in San Diego County. Relth most recently served as a broker sales associate at Coldwell Banker in Vista, Calif., where he specialized in the sale of residential land and large subdivisions.

Relth has over 30 years of comprehensive experience in the residential real estate industry and has been involved in countless residential land real estate transactions throughout San Diego County. Relth started his real estate career in 1978 as a residential sales associate and has worked with infill local and national home builders and developers throughout San Diego County since 1988, closing land transactions from Oceanside to Otay Mesa and inland.

"We are excited to have Steve Relth on board to work with our clients and expand our market coverage," said Whittlesey Doyle's Tom Doyle, co-founder and principal. "A resident of San Diego County for more than 20 years, Steve has a keen understanding of the San Diego residential land market and will be able to immediately apply his comprehensive knowledge and substantial transaction experience to help clients optimize the positioning and value of their properties as well as find the right buyer to purchase their land. He is equally adept at uncovering exceptional opportunities for our investor clients."

Doyle continues, "Our company platform of having the best senior brokers with strong, specific market experience ensures that our clients receive unparalleled service and outstanding value with every transaction."

"This is a great time to be working with Whittlesey Doyle," said Relth. "They are the market leader in the sale of land in Southern California and have extensive experience in selling distressed and REO properties. Whittlesey Doyle has worked directly with over 15 banks and lending institutions on the sale of REO property; and has effectively developed insightful and strategic options for banks and their clients as well as managed work-out strategies for complex real estate assets and large portfolios. Whittlesey Doyle has an amazing track record of creating prosperous results for their clients. I am thrilled to be a part of this exceptional company and client services."

San Diego County has seen an incredible amount of growth over the years, and although new home sales in San Diego County were at historical lows in the fourth quarter of 2008, the new administration’s stimulus plan and housing plan should lead to market stabilization as we move into the later stages of 2009, says Relth. "The high demand for low-priced resale homes should help push the move-up markets as we go forward and once again fuel the demand for new homes. Home builders are patient and poised to supply the new homes as San Diego is anticipated to lead the Southern California markets back to normalcy. As these forces gain momentum, the demand for land at all levels of entitlement will increase and, in turn, increase residual land values. Now is the perfect time to measure risk and look seriously at what are probably once-in-a-cycle opportunities," Relth explained.

Relth graduated from California State University in Fresno, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and a resident of Oceanside, Calif.
