March 7, 2009 (London, UK) -- Christian distributor CLC UK is currently promoting its project that aims to provide school libraries in Sierra Leone 10,000 books.
Following a visit by Interim Africa Regional Director - Liz Patten and CLC UK Director Phil Burnham in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the dire situation of school libraries was observed and a promise was made to do something about it. The project called "Give a book. Give a future" was started in May 2008 and will be running until August 31st, 2009.
Although some schools in the capital do have a few books on their libraries shelves, these are far from meeting the need of many children who are eager to read.
"The girls were called from their classrooms to talk to us. They were not really interested in their visitors, rather they were happy to have bonus library time", said Liz Patten.
Christian Focus Publication have also pledged to match any donations, so if you help sponsor 3 books, CFP will double it. Hodder & Stoughton are also going to donate schools edition of the NIV Bible.
Once the books are purchased, they will be shipped to Sierra Leone where the CLC Team will handle them and distribute them to the schools. Anyone can participate by donating as little as £2, from CLC's website: www.clcbookshops.com.
CLC UK is part of CLC International, an interdenominational Christian missionary organization, currently working in 57 countries. CLC provides Christian literature through shops, book tables, publishing and online commerce.
