May 21, 2009 (FPRC) -- EL SEGUNDO, CA – YMT Vacations recently added a “California Tour and Panama Canal Cruise” with special emphasis on the 121st Tournament of Roses Parade in Los Angeles to their bountiful list of land tour and cruise combination packages.
The tour portion of this trip features both northern and southern California with stops in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The cruise, aboard NCL’s Norwegian Star, takes travelers around the Mexican Riviera through the Panama Canal and then to the Caribbean.
With 880 miles of coast, “the Golden State” has a magnanimous amount of activities to do and sights to see. From the charming and chimerical San Francisco to the glitzy and glamorous Los Angeles, this tour allows travelers to get a taste of both worlds.
“Our customers have always spoken highly of our comfortable, motor coached tours. They like that they can just sit back and enjoy the sights, and not have to worry about getting from one place to the next,” says Oliver Milton of YMT Vacations.
Starting in picturesque San Francisco, the full tour of the city provides much anticipated views of grand bridges, sparkling ocean water, rows of pastel Victorian houses, and steep streets plied by cable cars. Next up is a scenic drive down Highway One through Big Sur to Solvang. This one of a kind experience allows visitors to embrace the raw beauty of their surroundings. With no traffic lights, banks or shopping centers along this drive, the thundering surf and the rocky headlands seem to blend together.
Once in Solvang, the heavy Danish influence is made evident with its windmills and horse-drawn carts. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, the full city tour features stops in the celebrity hubs of Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Afterwards, an exclusive viewing of the hand-decorated floats of the Rose Parade will reveal the detailed design and workmanship of more than 200 volunteers. On New Year’s Day, celebrate this year’s theme: A Cut Above the Rest! This festival of flowers, music and sports is unrivaled by anywhere else in the world, complete with spirited marching bands from throughout the nation, majestic floral floats, and high-stepping equestrian units.
“Besides all the sight-seeing, guests will truly get a chance to relax on the Norwegian Star after their land tour. The freestyle cruise provides guests with the freedom to eat and do whatever and whenever they want,” comments Milton.
The cruise to the Panama Canal stops at many ports in Mexico, including Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, and Huatulco. These resort destinations are great for shore excursions to the sandy beaches. Guests will get a change of scenery in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala and Puntarenas, Costa Rica to see the lush rain forests on land. The 51 mile cruise down the Panama Canal is a true testament to the success of manpower. Besides the Canal itself, the world’s largest man-made lake also contributes to this feat, along with an eight-mile channel built through solid rock. Finally, the cruise will go through the Caribbean, stopping in the historic town of Cartagena, Columbia before disembarking in Miami, Florida.
