October 15, 2009 (FPRC) -- OXNARD, CA – From 2007 to 2009, the Gene Haas Foundation has given the Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs Foundation two separate grants totaling $150,000. This money was and is being used to expose youth to hands-on, technical fields, as well as educational programs. The second grant in particular helped send young people to various summer camps where they received hands-on experience with technical trades.
The unique non-profit organization, Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs Foundation, was founded by actor John Ratzenberger. The organization provides spirited children of all ages with summer camps, scholarships, and various programs designed to “nurture the tinkering spirit.” Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs is focused on being a premier resource for training, education, help, and services to youth, the public, and the manufacturing sector.
“Both education and the manufacturing industry are a priority for Mr Haas and the Gene Haas Foundation. With more manufacturing jobs being sent overseas due to low labor costs, it’s important for America to become more innovative and productive in the manufacturing sector. When John Ratzenberger brought the organization to our attention, we felt it was important to help further its mission,” said officials of the Gene Haas Foundation (http://www.ghaasfoundation.org/).
Founded in 1999 by G. Haas, the Gene Haas Foundation has been supporting non-profit organizations through grants since 2001. Since that time, they have given over $8.5 million to more than 800 organizations, foundations, and charities, including those focused on children, feeding the hungry, health, safety, and education who operate on a local, national, and international scale.
About Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs Foundation: The Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs Foundation (NBT) fundraises and supports youth, as well as the manufacturing and technical industries, through various educational opportunities. Their goal is to raise public awareness about the issues and solutions surrounding the manufacturing industry, as well as act as a resource for youth outreach, informative programs, and services to improve the lives of youth and manufacturing.
