November 23, 2009 (FPRC) -- NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. - The Newport Beach Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presents its annual free Christmas Concert for the community on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Special guest performers include Grammy award-winner Janine Wynn and the Yuletide Caroling Trio.

Wynn will perform “Jesu Bambino” with Jay Yates, a Nashville songwriter, and the Alfred Burt carol, "Some Children See Him", with Corona del Mar High School’s Director of Music, Val Jamora, on the saxophone. Alto Melissa Rydjeski will also be featured in "The Jesus Gift" and "The Friendly Beasts,” with a live nativity scene.

The Yuletide Caroling Trio will perform other holiday favorites. These delightful singers have entertained all over Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties, with their renditions of traditional Christmas Carols and popular Christmas Songs. They have an extensive repertoire that includes traditional carols, Hanukkah songs, popular, comedic, and original holiday music.

The Newport Beach Stake Choir, which is led by Sherry Kettley, is comprised of local volunteer Church members from Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. The Choir will sing a variety of holiday music from around the world, American favorites, and the classic Christmas carols.

This year, the Christmas Concert will also include the Handbell Choir, which is led by Debra Bendheim, and is also comprised of local volunteer Church members. Many of the singers and Handbell Choir members are participants in the Orange County Mormon Choral Organization’s (OCMCO) concerts held at the world-class Renée & Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, Calif. OCMCO's Christmas Concert, Come Ye To Bethlehem, will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 5:30 pm and 8:00 p.m. at Segerstrom Concert Hall.

“We are excited to share our annual free Christmas Concert program with the community,” said The Newport Beach Stake Choir Leader Sherry Kettley. “Everyone that attends is sure to feel the warmth and happiness of the Christmas season through the many talented individuals that will share their musical gifts.”

The free concert will be located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church building, 2150 Bonita Canyon Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660. The entire family is invited. The program will last a little over an hour but it is suggested that attendees arrive early as there is no reserved seating.
