November 25, 2009 (FPRC) -- LA QUINTA, CA – US Army centric website, Army.net is honoring American soldiers with its new Army Hero Photo Contest. The contest encourages family and friends of American soldiers to tell the world about their own personal Army hero.
Army.net is a dedicated Army website providing valuable Army career advice and Army related information. In keeping with their commitment to being a comprehensive website for the US Army, Army.net not only provides job opportunities and career information, but also hosts and organizes competitions and provides other resources such as reports and a variety of other free web tools.
The Army Hero Photo Contest is yet another way in which Army.net proves its single-minded dedication to the Army. The contest invites Americans to submit real stories of Army soldiers they know personally and what it is that makes them heroes. An essay about the soldier and why they are heroes must accompany contest photo entries. The submissions (photo and essay) will then be posted on a dedicated page on Army.net in honor of the soldier's service to the country. All dedicated soldier hero pages will remain on Army.net indefinitely. Contestants are in the running to win two prizes for this contest.
"Every Army soldier deserves their moment in the sun and through this contest we want our soldiers to realize how special they are, not just to their family and friends, but also to America. We don't want their bravery to go unnoticed and this contest is our way of acknowledging these brave individuals and their heroism," says Larry Fowler of Army.net.
There are two prizes for the contest. The first one will be awarded to the Army hero whose page receives the most votes in the form of comments. This hero will receive a custom engraved US Army Stainless Steel Watch. The other prize will be awarded to a randomly selected Army hero, who will win an Army tribute photo frame to display the winning photo as well as a US Army challenge coin. Contestants can win by rallying friends and relatives to vote by posting on blogs, websites, forums, etc.
"It's a completely democratic process and if you want your hero to win, it's all about making sure they receive the maximum votes. It's a thoughtful way of telling your Army soldier how much he or she means to you and to the country," concludes Fowler.
