November 30, 2009 (FPRC) -- LA QUINTA, CA – The Army Hero Photo & Essay Contest organized by Army website, Army.net, will only be running for two more weeks before the winner is announced. Starting on October 29, 2009, the contest invited Americans to share the stories of brave soldiers from across the country and entries close on December 10, 2009.

Army.net is a leading US Army website that provides valuable advice about careers in the Army and other relevant Army related information. From providing information about enlistment in the Army reserves to offering a basic guide to Army training, the website has proved to be a comprehensive resource for a plethora of military information. In addition to their role as a leading Army career educator, Army.net also provides some recreational services to soldiers and their families. These include providing various free web tools and organizing fun contests to honor brave US soldiers.

The current Army Hero Photo & Essay Contest is designed to give families and friends of Army soldiers a chance to honor the brave soldiers in their lives. Contestants are invited to make submissions of real stories of their Army soldiers and talk about why they are considered brave. Submissions must include a photograph of the soldier and an essay highlighting the heroism of the soldier.

"We want our soldiers to know how much we love and appreciate their commitment and the sacrifices they make. Of course the appreciation means much more when it comes from your loved ones and through this contest we are giving families, spouses, and friends a chance to voice their love and appreciation for their soldier," says Larry Fowler of Army.net.

Each submission will receive its own free Army hero page on Army.net that features the photograph and essay. In honor of the service provided by the soldier to America, these hero pages will become permanent fixtures on Army.net.

The winning entry will be judged based on how many “votes” each page receives in the form of comments. This hero will receive a custom engraved US Army Stainless Steel Watch. Another hero will be randomly selected to receive an Army tribute photo frame along with a US Army challenge coin.

“Only two weeks remain, after which the voting process begins and a winner will be selected. America, this is your chance to express your pride and love for the brave individuals in your life who serve in the Army to ensure a better life for our country,” concludes Fowler.
