Dry Tortugas Camping Spots Nearly Sold Out for Holiday Season

The leading center for Dry Tortugas trips and camping, the Dry Tortugas Information Center, reports that their spots for Dry Tortugas camping during the holiday season are nearly sold out

December 15, 2009 (FPRC) -- Key West's leading center for all trips and camping out to the Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson, the Dry Tortugas Information Center, reports this week that nearly all spots for their holiday-season camping trips are sold out. Only a handful of spots are left open throughout the last two weeks of December.

Travelers coming to Key West Florida during these weeks who want to go on a Dry Tortugas camping trip are encouraged to call the Dry Tortugas Information Center as early as possible to check availability and to check potential cancellations.

The center offers its customers transportation on two luxury ferries that carry up to 100 passengers daily out to the Dry Tortugas for an unforgettable day out in the sun exploring the historic Fort Jefferson and experiencing some of the best Key West snorkeling around. Each ferry, however, only transports 6 campers, making the Dry Tortugas camping trip highly exclusive.

The holidays in Key West come at the dawn of next year's high season in Key West, when these camping trips tend to sell out daily. Christmas and New Years are two of the most popular times of the year for Key West visitors. With mild temperatures and low humidity, December is an ideal month to come to Key West and to go on a Dry Tortugas camping trip.

"We're really close to sold out but there are always circumstances in which people cancel last minute," states Dry Tortugas Info reservations agent Julia Townsend. "If you call the center in the next few days we can also put you on a waiting list in case someone does cancel."

The Dry Tortugas camping trips will continue running every day in the new year with 12 campers heading out on the two ferries each day. The Dry Tortugas Information Center works directly with leading tour center Best On Key West, offering the best in Key West snorkeling and many other tours and activities as well as hotel accommodations.
