December 31, 2009 (FPRC) -- On the eve of both a New Year and new decade, one online retailer is working even harder to make sure running their business benefits people on the inside and outside. LiquidWholeFood.com, a Life Force International organic liquid vitamins and liquid supplements dealer, has announced they are now going to recycle more of their business waste than throw out.
'We're really thrilled we now have access to single stream recycling like this,' said Darryl Schlicher, owner of the health and nutrition site. He continued, 'Just yesterday we got the receptacles in place and went through the garbage cans to pull out the stuff that could now be recycled. We were fastidious before, but I was surprised to see the resulting garbage cans go from almost full to barely full.' Single stream recycling is the practice of placing all recyclables in one container instead of the traditional method of separating them. It is only possible to single-stream recycle when the collection contractor is capable of recycling a vast array of waste material.
LiquidWholeFood.com received Green Office certification from Greenline Paper Company in July of 2009. Greenline Paper is a York, PA company that has garnered national attention for its commitment to supplying green products for all office needs and educating businesses on how to 'Go Green.' Their website description states, it offers special certification to companies that 'use energy wisely, recycle, use recycled and energy efficient products, and [are] environmentally savvy.'
At the time when LiquidWholeFood.com was certified, single-stream recycling wasn't an option and the company made an extra effort to sort out recyclables and regularly take them to recycling centers. Even with this added contribution, they were still unable to recycle certain items and instead got creative on how to reduce or reuse them so they wouldn't end up in the landfill. Even those extra measures don't compare to what the company is able to do now. 'Basically, we're down only to soiled material, such as facial tissues or items with dirt or food waste on them. Kermit was wrong,' Schlicher concluded. 'It is easy being green.'
