Paper Money Collectors Prepare for CPMX

Collectors will be heading to Chicago soon to participate in the 16th Annual Chicago Paper Money Exposition, March 18-21, at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare hotel, 5440 N. River Road in Rosemont, Ill.

February 17, 2010 (FPRC) -- Collectors will be heading to Chicago soon to participate in the 16th Annual Chicago Paper Money Exposition, March 18-21, at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare hotel, 5440 N. River Road in Rosemont, Ill. Greeting them will be a world-class bourse of leading currency dealers, top-notch educational presentations, and a rarity-packed major auction of world and U.S. notes by Lyn Knight Currency Auctions.

CPMX, sponsored by Bank Note Reporter, kicks off on Wednesday, March 17, with the first round of lot viewing for the Knight auction, beginning at 10 a.m. in O’Hare Ballroom 1. Viewing runs until 6 p.m. and reopens on Thursday, March 18, at 9 a.m., continuing until 5 p.m.

On Thursday the bourse opens to dealers with tables at 10 a.m. in O’Hare Ballrooms 2-3-4. At 2 p.m., Professional Preview participants will gain entrance to the bourse, which remains open until 6 p.m. and is followed at that time by the first session of the Knight auction in O’Hare Ballroom 1.

On Friday, March 19, a closed meeting of the Professional Currency Dealers Association’s board of governors is slated for 8 a.m. in the Kennedy Room, followed at 9 a.m. by the opening of lot viewing for the Knight auction which continues until 5 p.m.

The bourse opens to the general public at 10 a.m.

From 11 a.m. until noon, Bank Note Reporter Editor Robert R. Van Ryzin will be at the Krause Publications booth to meet collectors. He will be followed by George S. Cuhaj, editor of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The bourse remains open until 6 p.m. at which time the second session of the Knight auction is scheduled to begin.

On Saturday, March 20, the bourse opens to dealers with booths at 9 a.m. and auction lot viewing resumes. Lot viewing continues until 5 p.m.

The bourse opens to general public at 10 a.m.

Saturday boasts three meetings open to the public. At 11 a.m. in Love A-B Larry Shuffman will present “The People of Chicago and Their Support of the Liberty Loan Bonds of 1917-1919.” Members of the Chicago Coin Club will gather at 1 p.m. in Love A-B where Lawrence Falater will present “Stock Certificates from Frauds, Scandals and Famous Bankruptcies.” At 3 p.m., the International Bank Note Society is slated to meet in the Kennedy Room.

The bourse closes at 6 p.m. with the third session of the Knight auction beginning at that time in O’Hare Ballroom 1.

On Sunday, March 21, the bourse opens to booth holders at 9 a.m. and to the general public at 10 a.m. The bourse will close at 2 p.m.

Successful auction bidders will be able to pick up their auction lots from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Admission during the Friday-Saturday public hours is $5 for a two-day pass. Children 16 and under are admitted free. Admission is free to all on Sunday. Thursday Professional Preview registration is $50.
