March 24, 2010 (FPRC) -- A new website is offering a complete service dedicated to free VIN checks. This new site called freevincheck.info explains what the service is, and why you need to get one. It also tells you why you should not depend completely on a free VIN check.
The service is one provided by the National Insurance Crime Bureau and it lists thefts and title changes to certain vehicles. The program is a partnership to help prevent insurance fraud and it protects consumers by warning them of stolen vehicles now for sale by dealers and private sellers.
According to the site, the totally free VIN check saves money because it is a simple way to screen cars before you buy the complete vehicle history report. However, only cars that are insured when a theft occurs will be listed on these reports, the site warns. So, purchasing a vehicle history report is still a necessity. The VIN report does not replace a car history, it said.
The free VIN report is not a necessary report but it is completely free. For those buying a used car this report may help in the decision process.
A full car report will list even more information about the car, including thefts and title changes that may not be on the free VIN check report.
If you are interested in learning more about this site and the free service, visit them today. There are links to getting CARFAX reports and more helpful information.
