April 30, 2010 (FPRC) -- Sassy Scrubs, manufacturer of custom made uniforms, recently partnered with Steuben Glass, manufacturer of the world’s finest lead crystal, to provide a solution to better protect the glass company’s employees.
In the process of glass-making, certain abrasives are necessary, which require finishing employees to wear a uniform jacket to help protect their clothing and skin from stains and abrasions. Steuben Glass not only needed a quality garment that would withstand the processes of glass-making, but that would also withstand their rigorous cleaning processes. High on the list of priority for Steuben Glass, of course, was to be sure the garments would still be comfortable for the artisans to wear.
Steuben Glass, of Corning, New York, realized they needed a superior garment to protect their artisans during their work. Due to the precision necessary while each piece was cut, polished, and engraved by hand, the artisans were exposed to fine particle abrasives which coated them and clogged the zippers of their protective clothing. This caused the clothing to be short-lived and difficult to wear and remove. They looked to Sassy Scrubs to help solve this problem.
The Penn Yan, New York uniform manufacturer and e-tailer custom made garments for each artisan, both men and women, in varied sizes and lengths, as required by their jobs. Sassy Scrubs President, Karen Bradley, states “We were honored to be approached by Steuben Glass to produce a solution for them and were excited by the challenge.” Sassy Scrubs produced high quality snap front jackets with special pocket placements, choosing durable fabric that would not fade or ravel, regardless of the destructive abrasives to which they were exposed and despite the heavy duty gas dryers that are used in Steuben Glass’s in-house laundry. The glass company has been very pleased with the fit and durability of the custom designed Sassy Scrubs jackets.
The choice for Steuben Glass was crystal clear – Sassy Scrubs. The partnership was a good fit, adds Steuben Glass Finishing Supervisory Assistant Bob Morse, stating “Sassy Scrubs offered the quality jackets we needed, and they’re holding up very well.”
