July 13, 2010 (FPRC) -- NEW YORK, NY -- Stop Child Trafficking Now, an organization dedicated to ending child trafficking, announces it is organizing a host of innovative events aimed at raising awareness for the global issue of child sexual slavery. Three of the planned events include a UFC boxing match, a golf tournament and a charity run where participants run in stiletto heels.
The UFC boxing match will take place on August 28, 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. Famous fighter, James 'Lights Out' Toney is wearing a robe to support SCTNow in his fight against Randy Couture. Additionally, Toney is donating his personal Bentley for auction with a portion going to SCTNow to bring attention to the rise of modern day slavery.
Another event happening over the summer is the 'Golf to Stop Child Trafficking Now Tournament,' sponsored by QuikTrip. The event takes place in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on July 19, 2010. Individual players can participate for $150, and teams of four can take part for $600. The event occurs at one of the top golf courses in Oklahoma - the luxurious Golf Club of Oklahoma. All proceeds go to the SCTNow.
The Stiletto Run is occurring in Denver, Colorado on October 2, 2010 at Elitch Gardens. The money raised with this run is sent directly to SCTNow to stop child trafficking in the US and around the world. Last year's Stiletto Run in New York City set a Guinness Book of World Records record for the most women running in high heels. The run is less than the length of a football field, heels must be over 2 ½ in. and participants must be at least 18years old. "We're so excited to raise money and awareness with these three events and hope that Americans from all over will work with us and help us end child trafficking. Raising money to fund our programs is one of the biggest ways the public can help. We were recently honored that Saks 5th Avenue at the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver hosted an event in our honor with donations going to directly benefit SCTNow. Thanks to businesses like Saks, QuikTrip and individuals like James 'Lights Out' Toney, we're working harder than ever to eliminate child trafficking from the world," said Lynette Lewis, Co-Founder of SCTNow.org.
SCTNow works by addressing the demand side of human trafficking. The organization hires retired Navy SEALS and high level military operatives with the experience necessary to address those who buy sex from children. These operatives track predators and build irrefutable cases against them, evidence that is turned over to proper authorities for arrests and convictions.
About SCTNow:
Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTNow), is an organization that has chosen to fund a new, bold approach that addresses the demand side of child trafficking. With the support raised through the walks, SCTNow will deploy Special Operative Teams, teams trained to identify and gather evidence against child predators, resulting in prosecutions.
