The successful development of Indias first Marina - Kochi International Marina, is being followed by another Marina Development, that of India's oldest port Alappuzha Marina.

July 23, 2010 (FPRC) -- The Alappuzha Marina development contract has been awarded to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Limited. They have roped in Arrol Consultancies, a marina consultancy company, whose credentials consist of work on over 30 marinas wold wide.
After the Kochi International Marina, the first of its kind in the nation, the Alappuzha Marina Development is the next project being undertaken in a Public Private development basis. Alappuzha Marina is currently lying defunct and Deloit and Arrol will explore the possibility of a costal shipping cargo port. A detailed project report is expected to be submitted by the Deloitte and Arrol team by 31st July to the State Government.There was a high level discussion between Deloitte, Arrol Consultancies and representative of the Kerala government and after significant debate it was mutually settled that once the project report had been submitted and accepted, the tender process would take approximately ten months.
Mr. Arrol, a world distinguished Marina consultant, who made a presentation of the studies conducted so far, said the primary focus would be on the marina, which was to be linked with backwater tourism, utilising the tourism potential of Alappuzha’s heritage structures and historic canals. Submerged breakwater systems with facilities for water activities and yachting and a connection of the same to the canals to take vacationers to the backwaters of Kuttanad are part of the project.
This is the start of many more Marina developments all around India.
