January 10, 2011 (FPRC) -- Next Step Connections Ltd., a leading global career related education company is expanding its forecast of participants for it's international internship programs in Shanghai, China. According to Francois Liot, a co-founder and partner of Next Step Connections (NSC), the increase in expectations is based on the current number of students that are applying to NSC’s international internship programs which have increased threefold since the same time last year. Said Mr. Liot, 'we are pushing our estimated numbers from 200 to over 300 in our China internship (in Shanghai) alone. Including Hong Kong, and our new program in Mumbai, we are hoping to get over 350 students total.'

In 2010, NSC saw the number of participants jump 100% from the previous year to a little less than 150 interns. As part of their growth strategy, NSC was estimating a conservative 25% growth rate but has been surprised by their early application numbers. According to Mr. Liot, students, gap year participants and career breakers normally apply three to four months in advance, hoping to secure a spot in the program. This year, candidates are applying well in advance, filling up many of the high demand summer openings between May and September of each year. He explains that students should really look to apply early this year, especially if they are interested in participating during the summer months as he is expecting that they will eventually have to turn down or ask applicants to defer when they hit a max capacity of 100 students in any given month.

Part of the increased demand can be attributed to the current appeal that China is having on University students, especially as a new growth market that is expecting to create new job opportunities and exciting new international career possibilities. As the rest of the developed world suffers from economic downturn, China and India are both seeing continued economic growth.

Students interested in getting valuable internship experience while having the chance to see what China is all about, should check out Next Step Connections international internships and other career related education programs. And anyone interested in attending during the summer should look to apply as early as possible so that they can be sure to reserve their spot.
