March 10, 2011 (FPRC) -- The Malaysia Highlands Cycling Training Camp will take cyclists on a trip through steep climbs and technical descents that will test the fitness and endurance of each rider. The camp runs from 21st to 24th April 2011 and over the four days cyclists can expect to clock up to 500km of roads that wind through the mountain area.
The route is staged in Malaysia’s Pehang region and takes in Genting Highlands, Fraser’s Hill and Cameron Highlands and includes tea plantations and many of the retreats used by colonisers of the island. The region was a former colony of the British who used the cooler climate for tea production and also to escape from the heat of the lower areas. Riders can experience British traditions which are still kept in some places and one evening includes a stay at a typical English inn complete with tea and scones.
The first day of the ride travels north and it’s going to be all up hill for attendees as riders climb 60 km from Sungkai to Cameron Highlands and will rest up for the evening at a hotel Cameron Highlands. The second day is then the longest as the road leads to Fraser’s Hill and covers a distance of over 180 km. The final two days are spent exploring the hills of the area before culminating in a testing ascent to Genting Highlands.
