Forty Mile Race Challenges Athletes for Charity in Aviemore
DirectRooms.com reports that the charity, Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland is inviting people to compete in a physical 40-mile race in a bid to raise money for the hundreds of patients they help each year.

May 4, 2011 (FPRC) -- Athletes with the stamina can take up The Granite Challenge which mixes various disciplines over a 40 mile stretch winding through the old Fraserburgh and Aberdeen railway line. Competitors will be starting on Fraserburgh beach and finishing in Dyce.
The challenge is for teams of three people that must just choose from one of three races. Strong cyclists are recommended to take on ‘The Bike Challenge’ which is 40 miles of pure cycling. ‘The Hike and Bike Challenge’ mixes a 25 mile cycle event with a 15 mile hike, or for runners, ‘The Duathlon Challenge’ comprises running over 15 miles before jumping onto the bikes for a 25 mile cycle.
Every team can enter the races as a group or each individual can select a particular challenge dependent on their favoured discipline. Relays aren’t allowed and by signing up teams agree to raise a minimum of £180 in sponsorship and all proceeds will go to the charity.
The organisers are hoping to receive over 150 teams for the event to help with raising essential funds and this expected to cause reduced availability at Aviemore hotels when the race begins on 18th June 2011.
