Portsmouth Christmas Parties Expected To Outperform Their Southampton Counterparts in 2011, Say Eventa

June 29, 2011 (FPRC) -- Eventa, the UK's fastest growing organiser of Christmas parties for groups and companies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, have announced that they expect this year's Portsmouth Christmas parties to outperform their Southampton counterparts in terms of the speed with which the Christmas party places are booked up. That's according to a study of the amount of sales and enquiries for the two locations and the results have surprised Eventa CEO Rob Hill.

"It's very surprising, yes", he claims. "Southampton is traditionally one of our most popular Christmas party locations and to have Portsmouth, a much smaller city with fewer party venues, outperforming it to such an extent is very surprising indeed."

Hill does however have an explanation for the trend: "Christmas parties in Portsmouth are a little bit cheaper than in Southampton this year and we've got some really interesting themes, such as the Las Vegas night, so the proximity of the two means that groups nearer to Southampton are heading to Pompey."

Southampton is home to a large number of national companies such as Ford and B&Q, as well as the West Quay shopping centre housing stores such as Apple and Ikea. All groups that would be looking to attend a Christmas party, in other words. Hill says that a lot of these groups are spending the day in Portsmouth, exploring areas such as Gun Wharf Quay and the nearby port and then booking into hotels for the night after their Christmas parties.

"They spend the night so that they don't have to rush back to Southampton. It is only around 30 minutes on the train and this can be done first thing in the morning without any hassle."

Among the other events attracting guests to Portsmouth this year are a number of mid-week party nights, offering places for better value on off-peak nights.
