Runners Compete in Oslo Marathon Between 24 and 25 September 2011
Directrooms.com welcomes the Oslo 2011 Marathon from 24th to 25th September 2011. The Oslo Marathon weekend comprises a group of races including the half marathon, the 10 kilometre race and the 3 kilometre race.

August 14, 2011 (FPRC) -- The main event, the Marathon, starts at 10.30am on the 25th September and there are only 2,500 places in the race. Those wishing to compete should have already registered with the organisers. The race route starts at the Akershus Fortress, the city’s medieval fortress built in 1290, and finishes at the same point. The race route continues along past the Oslo opera house, the town hall and follows the sea front.
All runners are expected to have completed the race within six hours but the organisers are confident that as the race route is very flat many runners will actually be able to achieve a ‘Personal Best’ along the route. The time limit for the ‘half marathon’ is three hours. The ‘kids’ race’ starts at 12.00pm on Saturday 24th September.
There are many cheap Oslo hotels for either runners or their supporters and Oslo airport is only 47 kilometres away from the city. Other international transport links are good and Oslo itself has an excellent bike hire scheme for inner city transportation. In fact, in 2003 the city received a European Sustainable City Award and Norwegians are very proud of their city’s drive towards sustainability.
