September 2, 2011 (FPRC) -- Many people have little idea of the causes of side of foot pain, and when foot pain strikes they turn to the internet for help. Simply searching for the main symptom however rarely makes for a quick and easy diagnosis with many conditions having similar symptoms. With foot problems, the main symptom is localised pain, which is a good indicator of the likely causes. With this in mind a new website has been created to offer sufferers of side of foot pain an easy to use resource to find out more about the possible causes of pain in the side of the foot.

Sideoffootpain.com was launched last month as a new internet resource aiming to become the first port of call for anyone looking for the cause of side of foot pain. The new website offer practical advice, information on the likely causes of foot pain, and suggests good primary treatment methods.

“I wanted to put together a layman’s guide to foot pain. It’s easy to find detailed medical information if you know the name of the problem you have, but if you are not sure searching on the internet is somewhat hit and miss” says Sideoffootpain.com developer Steven Widmore. The new website fulfils that function perfectly. It offer information on the common causes of side of foot pain in sufficient detail to bring sufferers up to speed on the likely problem, yet does not go venture into medical jargon to explain conditions making it easy to understand.

By covering details of primary care treatments for the common conditions, the website is a good first port of call for anyone who has just picked up an injury which is not deemed serious enough to warrant an immediate trip to the doctor. With a better understanding of what the problem could be, proper care can be taken to prevent further injury.

“Developing a new resource for pain in the side of the foot seemed to be a good choice, as there was a lack of websites providing that information in one convenient location. I wanted to make sure that anyone suffering from side of foot pain had access to the information they would need to make a tentative diagnosis of the problem and take the appropriate primary medical care” says Widmore.

Sideoffootpain.com covers conditions which are easy to spot such as bunions and bunionettes, alongside problems which involve damage to the joints and bones which require a more thorough examination. Tarsal coalition and cuboid syndrome are little understood outside of the medical community, and listing the symptoms of these lesser known conditions can help to raise awareness to get an early diagnosis.
