September 12, 2011 (FPRC) -- The Geneva based Terpsycordes Quartet will be playing pieces by Schubert, Hayden and the more modern composer Gyorgy Ligeti (1923 – 2006) during the course of the recital. This dynamic quartet will demonstrate their versatility with their interpretation of the contrasting musical styles of these respective composers. This extremely talented group has achieved international acclaim for their interpretations of classical chamber music as well as their innovative performances of pieces by more modern composers. In 2001 the group won the prestigious Geneva International Music Competition. The Quartet is renowned for their use of both modern and ancient instruments, and has attracted a wide international following.
The Bruges Concert House, the ‘Concertgebouw’, will host the October recital and Yves Knockaert will introduce the performance at 19:30 with a short talk. The modern Bruges Concert House is situated on the Zand, which is right in the centre of this beautiful medieval city. Bruges is internationally famous for its medieval buildings, its canals and its cafes and there is plenty here for the visitor to enjoy. There are many Bruges City Centre hotels and many travellers take short weekend breaks in order to explore this enchanting city.
The historic Bruges city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site and there are many excellent international transport links including air, sea, rail and motorway. The city is sometimes referred to as the 'Venice of the North.'
