October 5, 2011 (FPRC) -- BATAVIA, IL - Batavia residents are putting on their dancing shoes in preparation for a new quarter of lessons at dance studio, A Step Above, which offers dance lessons in Batavia and surrounding suburbs. Registration for Quarter 2 starts October 26th and will go through November 5th.

Owned and operated by Shannon Holst, A Step Above Dance Academy is a new dance studio in downtown Batavia providing dance classes in Geneva and Batavia areas. The contemporary look studio is conveniently located on Wilson Street in a brand new facility; set up to help students maximize their training opportunities.

"We've worked hard to make A Step Above a beautiful space for dancers. The studio is in excellent condition and has lot of room, including great floors that are ideal for hours of dance practice. The students have really enjoyed the artistic and contemporary space. Our staff provides students with a high quality, exciting and professional dance education," said Shannon Holst, owner of A Step Above Dance Academy.

Once a professional dancer with the Poetic Rebound Performance Company, Holst has handed in her performance shoes in exchange for those of a teacher and mentor. With a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Certificate in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship from the University of Iowa, she is not only experienced but also well qualified to be a mentor to the dancing hopefuls of Batavia.

A Step Above welcomes dancers of all shapes, sizes and skills. Whether you have two left feet or are halfway to being the next prima ballerina, the studio has room for everyone. Dancers of all age groups are welcome to take their skill levels from Pre-school to Advanced. Holst employs a number of experienced and professional faculty members and students can choose from Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop or Contemporary dance styles.

"At A Step Above we have a great passion for dance and dancers. It doesn't matter how old you are and what level your skills are at; just come along and join us and I promise you will have the time of your life," concludes Holst.

In addition to the various dance classes in Batavia that A Step Above offers, the studio also features yoga classes. Holst believes yoga is the perfect supplement to the (sometimes) rigorous dance lessons and has many stress-relieving benefits. Holst is a certified and registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and boasts of over 200 hours of experience.
