October 22, 2011 (FPRC) -- MilPay, the app worlds' premier military pay calculator has added features that soldiers have been asking for, says David Burgess of Military Lounge. MilitaryLounge is the leading developer of Military Apps for iPhone/iPad and Android. "We were the first company to develop such apps, and have a tremendous amount of experience working with military folks and their supporters." MilPay assists US Military and Dept.of Defense workers in avoiding searching through military pay charts, determining their pay scales including BAH rates and countless incentive payments.

"We are finishing an update that will release the requested features, medical and dental incentive pay" he revealed. Many users have been requesting these incentive updates and the company has responded. The updated release is in beta stage and the reviews have been quite positive. "If all that goes well, the App update would be released in 3-4weeks" he said. Military budgets operate off of the "fiscal year," which runs from 1 October to 30 September. However, that does not mean that military pay changes occur at that time. Due to the wording that Congress uses in the annual Military Appropriations Act, and the Military Authorization Act, most military pay increases do not begin until the beginning of the calendar year (i.e., January 1st).

Military base pay has been increased by an across-the-board raise of only 1.4 percent. The House wanted a 1.9% raise, but the Obama Plan won out. The military housing allowance (BAH) isn't really part of the annual military pay law. Due to previous law, the military sets its housing allowance rates each year, based on a nation-wide survey of average housing costs. This year, BAH rates have actually gone down, because average U.S. rental costs have decreased. However, there is a "protection clause" in effect: If a member's BAH decreases, the member will continue to receive the old rate until he/she makes a PCS move to a different location -- so, military members will not see a decrease in their BAH rates. You can see the new housing allowance rates on my 2011 BAH.

Understanding military pay charts and how the military pays is quite complicated, this app is available in the iTunes App Store. Get the MilPay app and it will save you time and headaches trying to figure out how much your pay is. See how easy and fun it is to calculate your military pay!
