November 16, 2011 (FPRC) -- Superclean Web Services just re-designed Colorado banjo player Jake Schepps' website for his modern tribute to famed Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, titled: "An Evening in the Village: the Music of Béla Bartók."
The new album, recorded in 2010 but in the works for two years, is based on Bartók's original field recordings and features 23 compositions reinterpreted for the banjo. The music is available in CD and digital download format at JakeSchepps.com You can also find it available at Bandcamp.
A total of nine musicians play on the album, but the usual configuration was a quartet. The release has been described as Bartók Meets Bluegrass. Béla Bartók, a master Hungarian classical music composer, had a great interest in folk music so this musical combination really makes sense.
Recorded in Denver and mixed in Boulder, Schepps is joined by Ryan Drickey on violin, Matt Flinner on mandolin, Grant Gordy on guitar, Ross Martin on guitar, Ben Sollee on cello, and Greg Garrison, Ian Hutchison, and Eric Thorin all on bass.
The record was produced by Jayme Stone and mixed by Justin Peacock atht eh Hook Factory. The record was mastered by David Glasser at Airshow in Boulder, Colorado. The CD was officially released on October 4, 2011.
Superclean Web Services re-themed the Jake Schepps website with the new Hungarian/Folk artwork specially created for this project. The new design replaces the old Blue Note-inspired theme created for Schepps in early 2008.
