Ankara Film Festival Announces Provisional Dates in March 2012
The 23rd Ankara Film Festival has been provisionally scheduled to take place between 17th and 27th March 2012.

December 11, 2011 (FPRC) -- Featuring a wide range of categories celebrating the very best in national and international film, the festival has grown to become an important part of the worlds international film festival calendar. It provides a fascinating insight into the burgeoning Turkish film industry and allows the public to meet film directors and artists and discuss their work with them; in fact building a dialogue between the public and filmmakers is one of the key aims of the festival.
The festival awards prizes across thirty separate categories, including Best Feature Film, Best Short Film and Best Documentary. There are also awards for Best Actor and Actress and those in a supporting role. As well as the prizes that are common to most film award ceremonies, there are two special awards, the Mahmut Tali Ongeren Special Award and the Onat Kutlar Best Script Award, both presented in memory of these respected figures in the Turkish film industry.
The city plays host to this annual film festival in a number of venues, the Goethe Institute, Batı Movie Theatre, Büyülü Fener Kızılay and Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Centre, all of which are easily accessible from hotels in Ankara City Centre.
As well as the competitive element of the festival, there are a number of screenings of films, which are not involved in the competition. Over the years, the festival has become renowned for showcasing experimental and challenging work and there is an opportunity to see some interesting new developments. The event also features exhibitions, discussions and a range of other activities, such as conferences and workshops and a street art exhibition that takes place across the city.
