December 13, 2011 (FPRC) -- Detroit, Michigan – A child photograph is a mother’s priceless keepsake for years to come. If you’re homeless and struggling to feed your children, the idea of a keepsake memory is but a hopeful wish and far from a reality. For the second year in a row, homeless mothers residing at Detroit’s Rescue Mission will be receiving such a simple, precious gift. Photographer Marvin Shaouni with help from a retired probation officer, Jack Harrington and The Detroit Rescue Mission are working together to provide several mothers with beautifully framed, enlarged photos of their children.
Each Mother will receive her special memory during a southern style holiday dinner provided by the famed Sunday Dinner Company Restaurant, also known for its community support and involvement for Detroit’s homeless, at-risk-youth, returning citizens, senior citizens, single mothers and developmentally challenged. 'This is the time of year to reach out, work together, and make life a little more hopeful for those who have been hit the hardest during these challenging times' says chef Giles, co-owner of the Sunday Dinner Company. 'It is with great pleasure for us to assist Detroit Rescue Mission and Detroit Portrait Project make this special moment more memorable' adds Giles.
