December 23, 2011 (FPRC) -- Hagerstown, MD -- Allegany Optical, a chain of optometrists with 17 locations spanning Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania offers patients some of the most advanced prescription lenses available today.

The new lenses, known as digital lenses, are manufactured in Allegany Optical's own laboratory in Maryland and use the most advanced method of manufacturing. Many patients worry that the new technology will be prohibitively expensive, but the optometrists at Allegany Optical have priced it at a rate that's as affordable as traditional lenses.

"We feel that the quality of vision is so much improved over the older technology that we wanted to make it affordable to all of our patients. Other optical offices are pricing the technology as a high-dollar premium lenses affordable to only a few patients. However, we don't feel like excellent vision should be limited to only those who can afford it. If you need new glasses, consider stopping by an Allegany Optical office and seeing what a difference our digital lenses can make," said Patrick Fleming, O.D. of Allegany Optical.

Allegany Optical offices accept many different types of vision insurance, including Aetna, Cigna, EyeMed, First Choice and more. Each office works with patients on an individual basis to ensure that they leave with a great pair of eyeglasses or contacts, yet still maximize their insurance benefits.

Although patients can make an appointment at any of Allegany Optical's 17 locations, the offices will accept walk-in patients, as long as space is available. The optometrists can examine patients for all types of eye diseases, treat common eye irritations, injuries and infections and prescribe updates or initial eyeglass or contact prescriptions.

"Vision is one of our greatest gifts so we know how important it is for our patients to see clearly. If you've been wearing traditional eyeglass lenses, stop by one of Allegany Optical's locations and see the change our digital lenses can make. Many of our patients report that they've never seen so well and we love being a part of that. We're sure we can help improve your vision - let us help you see better than ever before," said Fleming.

About Allegany Optical:
The 17 locations of Allegany Optical provide local residents with excellent eye care at affordable prices. Patients can receive a comprehensive eye exam, choose the perfect pair of eyeglasses and even receive contacts at each of the 17 locations. The locations are even open late, which means they're ideal for busy professionals or students who are unable to come during traditional office hours.
