Cyberbullying, School Failure, Poor Motivation, and Defiance Solutions Featured at Teacher Conference

February 2, 2012 (FPRC) -- Cyberbullying, mobile phones, and texting didn’t even exist when most teachers were training to become educators, yet these are some of the current, major problems that dominate many contemporary classrooms. Colleges prepare teachers to work with students from years past, and fail to provide practical, updated training to ready teachers for today’s new breed of student. That is part of why many teachers find it nearly impossible to establish successful classroom management. The Breakthrough Strategies to Teach and Counsel Troubled Youth Workshop provides teachers, principals, teaching assistants, social workers, juvenile justice staff, school counselors, special educators, and administrators with updated, state-of-the-art training to prevent and manage contemporary classroom management and school behavior problems. The seminar will be held in Seattle, WA on May 3-4, 2012, and Portland, Oregon on October 11-12, 2012. This course and others are available online as well.

In addition to learning state-of-the-art techniques to control students’ cyberbullying, the workshop includes specific steps on how to manage students who refuse to complete their work. The seminar also shows how to motivate unmotivated and apathetic students, and how to improve attendance and punctuality. Participants will also learn how to avoid peer conflict, stop disrespect, and prevent school shootings. The classroom management strategies are drawn from instructor Ruth Herman Wells’ books, which include Behavior Change Handouts, The Last Chance School Success Guide, and The Quickest Kid Fixer-Uppers.
Presenter Ruth Herman Wells, M.S. is a featured columnist for SEEN Magazine, an adjunct professor, and the author of 24 books.
