Baylor University Kappa Delta Sorority Spreads Love to Stop Violence
The Baylor University Kappa Delta Sorority has partnered with care package provider ‘ShowYaCare’ for their annual Shamrock Project fund raiser to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America.
March 1, 2007 (FPRC) -- The Kappa Delta sorority has been an active supporter of Prevent Child Abuse America since 1981, raising money annually through their Shamrock Project fund raiser to support programs that save children from violence. To date, the sorority has raised more than $1.7 million for the organization.
This year, the Kappa Delta’s chose to raise funds in partnership with Raleigh, NC-based care package company ShowYaCare.com (http://www.showyacare.com). In contradiction to the anger and violence the group is working to prevent, sorority members are spreading the word about a series of fun care packages designed to show love and appreciation to friends and family members.
“This is a refreshing alternative to traditional fund raising campaigns like selling chocolate bars or walk-a-thons. Care packages are something that people enjoy purchasing for the special people in their lives and since we handle the order fulfillment, the fundraiser does not require a major time commitment but still offers a high earning potential,” says ShowYaCare.com owner Becky Myers.
Kappa Delta will earn between $5 and $9 for every package that they sell and there are no up front costs for the sorority to recoup. “Every fundraising dollar they earn is theirs to donate,” says Myers. “It’s a win-win situation for the sorority, for the children, and for the givers and the recipients of the care packages.” To spread the word, ShowYaCare.com designed a special email campaign with built in tracking for sorority members to send to friends and family.
Myers herself was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority in college and remembers raising money for the Prevent Child Abuse America foundation through a sponsored kickball tournament. “It’s great to be able to stay involved with Kappa Delta’s Shamrock Project in a new way,” says Myers.
The Kappa Delta fundraiser began February 20th and will run through March 30th. Only packages purchased during this time period will be eligible for the donation. Those who would like to show support to Prevent Child Abuse America can enter the term ‘Kappa Delta’ in the ‘special instructions’ field of the online order form on ShowYaCare.com’s website http://www.showyacare.com.
