Rising Country Star Jimmy Aldridge Reaches Internet Milestone

Rising Nashville country music artist Jimmy Aldridge has reached over 50,000 listeners through Myspace.com in anticipation of his upcoming album.

January 27, 2008 (FPRC) -- Nashville, Tennessee - Country music artist Jimmy Aldridge has reached an internet milestone, racking up over 50,000 plays on Myspace.com. Over the last few years Myspace has introduced several new musical acts to the national market, but there is yet to be a country act among them. Aldridge is poised to become the first.

Aldridge's music is a combination of neo-traditional country influences and southern rock. Aldridge says he sought out alternatives to traditional music industry marketing when faced with resistance from Nashville elites regarding his style. "They want pop music. I don't do pop, and I'm not going to change to please them when, nowdays, I can go out there and do it myself", Aldridge said.

Aldridge is currently completing a full length independent country album in Nashville, recorded at major studios like The Parlor and The Tracking Room. He has been featured as an acoustic act at the White Elephant Saloon in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Nashville Crossroads in Nashville, TN.

"It's hard to get ahead as an independent artist", Aldridge said. "The hardest part is financing everything yourself, but the internet makes it a lot easier. Now it's possible to get my music in front of thousands of people without spending thousands on advertising.."

Aldridge's most played song on Myspace is "Southern Comfort", a southern rock ballad that has been described by Nashville producer Robin Knuckles as a "country rock anthem". His influences come through, specifically those of southern rockers Lynyrd Skynrd and Marshall Tucker, although his sound is unequivocally original. His first full-length effort is scheduled for release in June of 2008.
