It’s Time for AI Software Outsourcing
It’s time for AI software outsourcing: Pawlin Technologies Ltd (Russia) created an AI-driven subsystem for the computer vision project of it’s US-client.
March 9, 2008 (FPRC) -- We all observe the tendency to the “intellectual software” rise during the last decade. The usage of artificial neural networks to solve real world problems is a common thing. Different products on their basis now actively extend the application range from typical business cases (e.g. currency rates forecasts) to common-life subjects, such as medicine, computer games, and even politics. Practically artificial neural networks can be applied anywhere, where there is a need in intellectual data mining and classification of big masses of 1D, 2D, 3D or multidimensional information. However, programming artificial intelligence aglorithms require an extended set of skills from developers, making such projects very challenging and risky.
The client of Pawlin Technologies Ltd. from the United States that specializes in image processing, computer vision and dynamic 3D objects reconstruction requested, as often happens, non-trivial solution. One of the aspects of it’s production process was human manually operating on digital images. While it was okay until the client only had images from the few camears, rising it’s number to dozens quickly made human the bottleneck. In addition, errors that could have been introduced by the human operator could diminish the quality of the end product significantly. In case of studio setup changes, the whole manual process would have to be done again, leading to inacceptable waste of human resources and time.
After some preliminary research that the client tried to perform on their own or with current vendors, it became clear that it’s quite difficult to find scientifically-minded people who can potentially create AI software, since they hardly know such words as “budget”, “deadline”, “delivery”, etc. The regular programmers, in constrast, know very little about calculus math, which is an essential part of AI. The search for the perfect AI-vendor brought to Pawlin Technologies Ltd. (www.pawlin.com) . This is one of the rare Russian companies that professionally deal with neural networks and AI-software. It’s the difference of the former Soviet Union educational system tradition from the western one that explains why Russia is a great source of AI-software developers. Thousands of hours of math in school, knowledge of Physics, probability theory and nice programming skills makes it possible to use the grads from the leading Russian Universities the “analytical commandos” for completing non-trivial AI-software projects cost effectively.
The software were developed on C++ with usage of Intel OpenCV library and internal libraries of algorithms of Pawlin Technologies (PWNLIB2.0a). Pawlin has already successfullly completed several projects for this client and discusses long-term partnership.
Pawlin Technologies Ltd. is an IT-company based in Moscow , Russia. The company was established in 2005 by a group of young talented enthusiasts. Our mission is "to offer effective solutions to non-trivial tasks by applying cutting edge methods and ideas of science, technology and business”.
Our technical expertise lies in the field of intellectual computations. Pattern recognition, computer vision, image processing, data mining, robotics, artificial intelligence and neural networks are the key-words summarizing the area of our scientific interests and the scope of our typical projects. All our specialists hold advanced degrees in applied mathematics and computer science from the leading Russian universities. We also work in close cooperation with a number of well-known Russian research institutes and have access to their libraries and technological base. Our scientific consultants are well-known Russian scientists in the fields of neural networks, parallel computing and applied math. Our own specialists are also involved in academic research contributing to scientific journals and presenting frequently at international conferences.
