Johann Sebastian Bach Sinfonia for Classical Guitar Trio Released

Savage Classical Guitar Releases Bach's 3 Part Sinfonia for Classical Guitar Trio

March 19, 2008 (FPRC) -- March 19, 2008 (FPRC) -- Savage Classical Guitar Editions releases its latest Bach publication based on the 3 Part Sinfonia for Keyboard. This latest edition released by Savage Classical Guitar is for 3 guitars playing the various parts presented to us by Bach.

From a collection of exercises written by Bach for his son, Wilhelm Friedman, the 15 Sinfonia or "fantasias" as they were originally named, follow the more famous 15 Keyboard Inventions. Bach followed an orderly method to his instruction, thus the 15 Sinfonia are considered more difficult in nature. Regardless, this body of work is a magnificent opportunity for the classical guitarist to explore the genius and majestic musicality of this baroque master, while engaging their craft with other guitarists.

"The work of Bach is continually amazing to me. After decades of study, I open a manuscript from him that I haven't seen before and within minutes, I'm simply amazed, once again, at how consistently beautiful, creative, and musical this man was in his time, or any time for that matter." said Richard Sayage, CEO of Savage Classical Guitar Editions.

An passage from the book: "The purpose of this book is many-fold; the introduction of classical guitar, the ability to read and interpret music and rhythm, to introduce more distant keys to the guitarist, to introduce a reasonable attempt towards ensemble work, facilitate a complete learning of the fret-board and to do all of this in a highly musical context. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the cantabile nature of this particular set of work remains very well suited to this ultimate aim. "

The transformation of this music written for 3 voices on a harpsichord to 3 classical guitars was actually more difficult than one might imagine. The voices needed to be separated, of course, and then voiced properly to give an appropriate effect that suited the original music. The scoring was done with utmost care and then care was given to the separated parts, which are available along with the master publication.

"I thought, when I started this project back in the 1980's, that this was a perfect opportunity for classical guitarists to learn to play with one another versus the usual "solo" approach that the classical guitarist takes and to do so in a highly musical context. How could you possibly get more musical than Bach and his 3 Part Sinfonia?", said Mr. Sayage.

The company also publishes various and important works by Johann Sebastian Bach including the original Complete 15 Keyboard Inventions for Solo Classical Guitar, Selections from the Well Tempered Clavier, Bach Cello Suites, and The Complete Three Part Sinfonia for Classical Guitar Duet.
