MD Voter Campaign Unites Forces With Online Activism Movements On MySpace And Facebook

Vote The Power!™ Campaign Spreads Message of Empowerment And Encourages Armchair Citizens To Get Involved.....

On April 16, 2008, The GrassRoots Steering Foundation, Inc. will initiate their social networking campaign efforts for VOTE THE POWER!™ CAMPAIGN TO VOTE 360° on MySpace.com and Facebook.com. During the 2008 Presidential Campaign season, many citizens have witnessed the increased emergence of grassroots, online activism and organization in the various campaigns of candidates running for President. VOTE THE POWER!™ is joining the online grassroots movement to motivate citizens to vote and challenging local communities to get more involved in the political process. Through this online initiative, VOTE THE POWER!™ is encouraging armchair citizens to play an active role in citizen participation in the political process.

Through the launch of this campaign on MySpace.com and Facebook.com, we will facilitate online collaboration through internet technology to promote outreach and work to establish networks of like-minded people and organizations across Maryland. Once these networks are successfully established, the campaign will then organize outreach activities in local communities and coordinate strategies for precinct development. Internet activism through social networking sites will enable the campaign to reach those audiences who utilize the internet to: 1. communicate, 2. receive their news, and 3. stay abreast of political/social issues. Utilizing social network sites will allow members of the campaign to disseminate information very quickly, and keep those supporting VOTE THE POWER!™ updated with the progress of the campaign and in touch with one another . The objective of this online intiative is to attract a broader audience of citizens interested in non-partisan issues/community affairs, social entrepreneurs/civic-minded companies, and potential non-profit partners.
