Author Releases Fascinating Political Fiction Thriller - Eden’s Diamond by Damian Hono

Nigerian author in Diaspora Damian Hono releases a fascinating political fiction novel highlighting the state of affairs in Nigeria. Author shares source of inspiration and why his book advocates a bloody revolution in Nigeria.

May 31, 2008 (FPRC) -- Niki, an undergraduate dies under suspicious circumstances. Datti, her boyfriend, and a member of a dreaded campus cult flees the city. About the same time, a French oil giant throws its financial might behind a retired General in the presidential elections. The nation’s minister of Justice has to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a South African mercenary, Rudolf Weilbach whom it is learnt fought along sides the new president in the ‘70s; also coming to light is the fact that Weilbach was Niki’s father. A reign of blood, terror, and intimidation sweeps across the land as the president desperately tries to keep the secrets of his past buried. And so from a seemingly insignificant murder of a girl, to high stake lobbyists, the story’s pendulum swings to a massacre in Namibia, to missing diamonds in Southern Africa, and then on to the courageous revolution of the people against the status quo. In the end, Eden’s Diamond will best be remembered as a story of love; the glory of a people’s unity; and a hero’s ultimate sacrifice.
Commenting on why and where he got his inspiration to write such a phenomenal book Damian says: “I guess coming from a unique country like Nigeria affords you all the inspiration for a book. But more specifically, the political and economic rot in that country, and an excruciating longing to see all of that change for the better was all the inspiration I needed. I discovered the joys of writing at the early age of ten. In my first form in secondary school in Nigeria, bedridden in a dormitory from a dislocated ankle, I read in two days, Dicken's ‘Oliver Twist’ and Cyprian Ekwensi's ‘The Boy Slave’. I think I never recovered from the effect those two stories had on me. All I wanted to do was create that kind of feeling in people with my own words. After all is said and done, I know I’m always going to be happiest when I put pen to paper and see yet a new title hit the stands.”
