KTGY Earns Multiple Grand Gold Nugget Awards For Best Mixed-Use, Adaptive Re-Use & Green Residential Community

KTGY has earned 3 Grand and 11 Merits in the Gold Nugget Awards design and planning competition for site planning and architecture for mixed-use, adaptive re-use, recreational use, affordable housing and attached and detached homes, and sustainable communities. The prestigious awards recognize the firm’s diverse portfolio of design excellence.

July 2, 2008 (FPRC) -- IRVINE, CALIF. – Award winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, has earned 14 high honors (3 Grands and 11 Merits) in the prestigious Gold Nugget Awards design and planning competition for site planning and architecture for mixed-use, adaptive re-use, recreational use, affordable housing and attached and detached homes, and sustainable communities. The firm’s winning projects are located throughout Northern and Southern California and were selected from 520 entries from the Western States and internationally. The Grand Award winners were announced recently at the Gold Nugget Awards gala held on June 26, 2008 in San Francisco during PCBC.

Receiving a Grand Award for the Best Adaptive Re-Use Project is Whole Foods Market in Pasadena, Calif. Located on the site of an 80-year-old historic building, the project features a two-story, 76,770 sq. ft. Whole Foods Market on a 1.2-acre parcel, and is supported by three levels of subterranean parking including Vermaports (a system for transporting shopping carts similar to escalators). The winning project is located at the southwest corner of Arroyo Parkway and Bellevue Drive. The contractor is C.W. Driver. The developer is Gordon Ekstrand/Bellevue Ventures, LLC.

KTGY’s Retail/Mixed-Use Studios located in their Santa Monica office are continuously designing retail and entertainment centers, lifestyle destinations, urban developments, and mixed-use communities. Today they have teamed up with well-respected developers including Regency Centers, Vestar Development Company, Allied Retail Partners, Red Mountain Retail Group, Champion Development Group, Makar Properties, Developers Diversified (DDRC), Civic Partners, Watt Commercial and others.

Market Lofts in Los Angeles, Calif. received a Grand Award for the Best Mixed-use Project. A mixed-use retail/residential urban community located in the heart of downtown includes six stories of for-sale lofts above street-level retail and a subterranean garage. Residential components include 267 upscale loft units ranging in size from 685 – 1,588 sq. ft., pool court plaza deck, clubroom, theater and fitness facilities. The retail is anchored by Ralphs Fresh Fare supermarket, the first supermarket in downtown Los Angeles since the 1950s. Other retailers at the Market Lofts include The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Cold Stone Creamery, Quiznos Subs, the UPS Store, Robeks Juice and Pastagina. PCL Construction Services, Inc. is the builder. Lee Homes/CIM Group are the developers.

KTGY was also honored for two other outstanding sustainable communities in the awards competition, Vantage of Palo Alto in Palo Alto, Calif. and Carsten Crossings in Rocklin, Calif.
