November 16, 2010 (FPRC) -- Global Entrepreneurship Week, the largest global movement of entrepreneurs involving 101 countries and over eight million participants, kicked off with a bang yesterday. The week aims to supports existing business owners and inspire others to start their own business ventures. Entrepreneurs are seen as vital to economy, wealth and job creation and therefore essential to encourage.
Thousands of events are taking place this week, showcasing, and celebrating the work of entrepreneurial ideas and aiming to encourage enterprises such as Giveacar; a scrap car donation scheme which allows members of the public to donate their end-of-life cars and give the proceeds to a charity of their choice. In addition, the vehicles are collected free of charge at a time convenient to the car owner and disposed of at an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), where they are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
The unique fundraising initiative launched its car donation scheme ten months ago and has since raised £150,000 for charity, affiliating with 200 different charities such as Shelter and Cancer Research UK.
Donations are a crucial source of additional funds for many charities and Giveacar has provided them with a new source of revenue through donations of driverís unwanted vehicles.
This month alone, Giveacar has been shortlisted for the Business Innovation Award at the London Business Awards. Its Director has also been named one of the Top 100 Young Social Entrepreneurs.
