Housefax is announcing a new service that allows homebuyers to download a five year history of insurance claims on any residence in the United States.

June 24, 2014 (FPRC) -- Housefax, the leading provider of property-specific history reports, today announced the first-to-market online service for homebuyers to access a property’s insurance loss history, including both claims and inquiries, without revealing personal information of the homeowner. The Housefax Insurance Claims Report includes a five-year history of insurance claims made on consumer-owned and bank-owned properties.

“Adding insurance claims was a natural extension of Housefax’s mission to arm consumers with the most inclusive data set available before making an offer on a property,” said Housefax CEO Eddy Lang. “We wanted to do it the right way with proper authorization procedures in place to comply with federal FCRA guidelines and to protect the privacy of the homeowner.”

The Housefax Insurance Claims Report captures five years of loss history at a given house address. For example, a typical claim on roof damage from a hailstorm would include the insurance company’s name and policy number, date, type of loss and the amount paid out. Housefax Insurance Claims Reports are priced at $19 as a supplement to the Housefax Property History Report, which consumers can download for $59 online at housefax.com. Information specific to the homeowner is purposely omitted in the insurance claims report to protect their identity.

Obtaining insurance claims information is akin to requesting a credit report, which is why the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act1 (FCRA) requires direct authorization from the homeowner for the information to be released. Customers can request a Housefax Insurance Claims Report through Housefax’s new automated process whereby Housefax will contact the homeowner for approval. The approval is valid for a 10-day period to download a report under proper FCRA guidelines. Housefax expects most homeowners to cooperate as these reports may help sell their properties.

“With information contained in a Housefax Insurance Claims Report, I can work with my clients to piece together the puzzle on a property’s true history,” said Andy Powell Pierobon, a 29-year Virginia real estate veteran with RE/MAX Premier. “It’s peace of mind that is well worth the report’s price point.”
