London Drainage Facilities Concerned That Economic Impact from December’s UK Storms Could Top $4 Billion (£2.8 Million)

January 14, 2016 (FPRC) --

The team at leading industry experts PwC have raised their estimate for the third time in a week of the economic impact Britain is faced with as a result of the recent 3 storms to hit the UK back in December– Desmond, Eva and Frank.

Causing widespread flooding and extreme damage to a large number of homes and businesses in the North of Britain, PwC has now estimated that the cost of cleaning up after these storms will exceed a massive $4 billion and experts have warned that this figure could grow even further, especially as many flood alerts are still in place throughout the UK.

“The impact of these three successive storms has been very dramatic,” says Fraser Ruthven, Head of Marketing and Growth at London Drainage.

“After causing damage to tens of thousands of homes and businesses in the UK, it has been reported that storms Desmond, Eva and Frank could have wreaked even more havoc than the 2007 storms that battered north-east, central and southern England and Wales – the expense of repairing the damage is expected to be much higher than previously.”
