Swindon's Hospital upgrades security to ensure patient safety with XTAG
Great Western Hospital goes the extra mile to give mothers peace of mind with the XTAG Intelligence Infant Security Solution.
The XTAG Intelligence Solution provides patient and asset safety, and security solutions to the medical sector, which is now being utilised by Great Western Hospital, Swindon, U.K.
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is one of the biggest providers in England's South West, with over 2.5 million patient contacts per year. The hospital's maternity services have been assessed by the Care Quality Commission as "having the highest standards in Antenatal care."
XTAG seemed the perfect fit as the proud winners of the 2017 Innovation and Excellence Award (Corporatelivewire), and technology that is backed by XTAG'S ‘Made in Britain' membership; a testament to its U.K. manufacturing, quality assurance and service commitment. The System was installed in the White Horse Birth Centre, Delivery Ward, Hazel Ward, and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).”
"The safety and security of the mothers and babies in our care are the cornerstones of our practice, and XTAG gives both mothers and staff peace of mind," says Kathryn Owen (Interim Clinical Midwifery Manager).
A RFID tag, placed on the baby's ankle, connects to a central control station that alerts the staff if a tag is tampered with, if the baby is in an unauthorised area, or close to an exit.
With over 5,000 annual deliveries the maternity unit is a busy environment so only the most reliable support will do. Kathryn goes on to say that "the team from Active Tagging have gone above and beyond to ensure that [the system] runs as smoothly as possible."
