January 12, 2012 (FPRC) -- The Mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, has formally announced details of a dedicated 'fanzone' that will be in place throughout the summer's Euro 2012 football tournament.

The zone, located at an area between the two football stadiums called Blonia Meadow, will be able to hold up to 30,000 fans and be home to big screens, bars and food stalls.

Majchrowski told a press conference that the area represented a perfect choice, being within easy reach of all parts of the city. Although no football will be played in Krakow itself the English, Dutch and Italian teams will be using the city as a base and as such officials predict that it will become an unofficial hub of the tournament.

Brighton, UK based organisation The Stag Company have partnered with many bars, hotels and activity providers in the city to help those embarking on a Krakow stag do over the summer enjoy the tournament as part of their trip.

Speaking about the move, CEO Rob Hill said: "Lads love football and Krakow is one of our most popular stag party locations. We already offer 5-a-side football matches to our groups and we want to promote this a lot more in the run up to the Euros."

The organisation have said that for a footballing stag do Krakow is already one of their prime locations, due to good relations with a local team who are happy to take on stag groups, and that they are looking at other avenues to tie in with the tournament.

"One of our aims is to work closely with bars in and around the fanzone to offer special promotions to groups out on stag weekends. We will also be covering the entire sports theme, so promoting areas such as white water rafting and quad bike racing."

The city's Mayor has voiced frustration at members of the UK tabloid press portraying the England team's Krakow training facilities as sub-standard, but has reassured all parties that the Hutnik base will be fully equipped and ready in time for the tournament's opening ceremony in June.
