January 18, 2012 (FPRC) -- S2 Services released today its exclusive updated freeware Excel Recovery. The only other available freeware on Internet for corrupt Excel Recovery, Corrupt XLSX2CSV is also made by S2 Services and is now deprecated as the upgraded program incorporates the deprecated one's functionality.

Microsoft recommends several methods for recovering Excel data from corrupt spreadsheets at these locations: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/repairing-corrupted-files-in-excel-HA001034656.aspx and http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/repairing-a-corrupted-workbook-HA010097017.aspx. . Excel Recovery now makes it easy to follow these recommendations for saving and reopening your file in the SYLK and HTML formats, opening the corrupt workbook with calculations to manual or in safe mode, opening in the Excel Viewer or WordPad, opening the file in open and repair or open and extract data modes and/or using the external references method.

The program also adds two methods of its own for data extraction and one for Excel repair using included freeware/open source command line apps. Additionally it has its own native previous file version recovery tool which works where in any version of Vista and Windows 7. Normally previous versions of files can't be accessed in Vista Home Basic and Premium version even though they are there stored in the Restore Point. This program makes them available just like the "Restore Previous versions" makes them available from the right click/context menu of Explorer in the other versions of Vista and Windows 7.

Still to be added in a future version is the macro chart data recovery method recommended by Microsoft for data recovery if the Excel file can be opened and some of the data at least is incorporated in a non-corrupt chart.
